3T Biosciences is an industry leader in TCR targeting and therapeutics discovery for the treatment of solid tumors and solving a major bottleneck in the field of immunotherapy – identifying novel targets. 3T’s novel 3T-TRACE platform is designed to overcome the challenges of advancing TCR-based therapeutics. We are developing transformative T cell receptor therapies for cancer and other immune-related diseases. Our proprietary experimental and computational technology allows us to identify novel T cell receptor targets as well as clinical toxicities to bring safe and effective therapies to patients in need of new treatment options.

The 3T computational team is an interdisciplinary team with core strengths in engineering, algorithms, and bioinformatics. Our core platform 3T TRACE involves iterative data cycles between wet-lab experimentation and computational analysis and updates to computational models to accelerate target discovery and therapeutic development. The ideal candidate is someone who is excited by the opportunity to work across multiple areas in a dynamic environment. 3T will consider well-qualified candidates in either a full-time remote position or at our South San Francisco office location.

Your Typical Responsibilities:

  • Leading a multidisciplinary computational group in product-oriented research, software development, computational infrastructure, and cloud computing to aid in novel target discovery and therapeutic and program development for biologics and cell therapy
    • Development of computational infrastructure including database schemas, data storage, ETL infrastructure, data integrity, cloud architecture, cloud automation, and cloud security
    • Development of computational front-end and web applications for internal research use for experimental scientists and management
    • Scaling and automating genomics and algorithm pipelines in AWS using pipeline orchestration and scaling tools
    • Maintain/coordinate github monrepo, github actions, CI/CD pipeline, container builds, and releases
    • Develop, maintain, and deploy an app that processes, analyzes via machine learning, and visualizes data
    • Developing and managing machine learning pipelines involving novel algorithm development for:
      • predicting patient responses based on clinical outcomes and molecular and cellular data
      • predicting TCR specificity for peptide-HLA targets using internally acquired data from 3T-TRACE platform
    • Managing and influencing stakeholders including executive members, board members, scientific advisory board, and computational and experimental researchers
    • Managing a team of ML data scientists and software engineers
    • Contribution to IND packages for therapeutic programs against T cell receptor targets
    • Presenting to internal and external audiences regarding both scientific and business developments
    • Creating and managing intellectual property with external counsel

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in a scientific or technical discipline including computer science, computer engineering, or bioinformatics
  • 10+ years industry experience related to bioinformatics, algorithms, computational data infrastructure, software development, and cloud computing
  • Experience building computational research programs and ideating from general guiding principles in collaboration with experimental teams
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary computational teams
  • Have built, orchestrated, and maintained data infrastructures and scalable pipelines for large datasets
  • A strong working knowledge of experimental processes, assumptions, and design in the context of computational demands
  • Self-motivated and a proactive thinker – can work independently and in teams
  • Excellent written and communication skills presenting scientific data

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable in multiple coding languages (python, R, etc.)
  • Experience building computational research programs and ideating from general guiding principles in collaboration with experimental teams
